Essential Tremors my StoryI am 48 an have had ET since I was in my 20’s. I finally got diagnosed with ET in my 30’s. I am married with 2 grown children. My daughter is in graduate school working on her masters in Education. My son is attends a Technical college working on his GED and Auto tech. My husband will retire in about 4 years. ET has disabled me to the point that I can not work out. I am being treated with Inderal and Klonopin. Some days I am better than others. I need to do more to fulfill my life and I am looking for information on Botox injections. I feel that I am too young to be in this position. I want to be more useful in my life. My mother has ET she is 84. She does even less than I do. I hope some one reads this is young like me an also is looking for help.
Re: Essential Tremors my StoryHello
I dont really know much about the botox injection. If you research the subject it only helps half the people that try it. If your symptoms are still bad even if your on indural and klonipin you may want to look into trying something else. Alot of the treatments are trial and error. I have responded very well to primidone and depakote. I still on occation have a bad day. but I have alot more good days than bad days. There is alot of medication options... it just takes time to find the right ones. Botox and surgery are mostly a last resort because of the damage that can be caused. My advice if you dont already have one look for a neurologist in your area that specailizes in movement disorders and try some different medications. Good luck, If i can help you with any thing let me know. And welcome to the forum. Andrew

Re: Essential Tremors my StoryHi im 41 i've had tremors since around high school at the moment im on epiepsly tablets which they say helps as nothing else has its getting worser the older i get , i think i passed the dicky gene to my middle son as he's got a mild shake so im a bit worried as hes going to medical school soon.
Each day for me is a challenge it depends on sleep , stress etc for instance i was telling my neurologist my son said to me god mum you have more shakes than Tom Hanks in saving private ryan and he just laughed there that bad. They told me i can only get worse but they will try and control the shakes if you have any wonder cures or better tablets let me know .
Re: Essential Tremors my StoryI am a 56 year old female and have had ET most of my life. I was only diagnosed last year. I must tell you with regret that the meds you are on will not control your tremors. I am on a drug called "Mysoline".
Since first being diagnosed by a neurologist and being put on this medication, it was the most wonderful feeling in the world to be able to hold a glass or pen in my hand without droping it or spilling it all over me. Feel free to email me x[moderator note: e-mail address has been removed] to communicate.
