Topamax treatment

Post a new topicby dentist on Fri Mar 07, 2008 10:58 am

Has anyone tried this medication? Did it remove the tremors completely? What were the side effects?

I just started using it and we are increasing the dosage weekly until some effects (good or bad) are felt.

My sister has ET and she can't get help from her doctor to take Topamax. It would cost her a couple hundred dollars each month for the prescription. She is 68 years old. Medicare does not think it is necessary. She can't even write to sign her name or write out her checks. There is supposed to be a genereic that is being offered this year. Does anyone know what it is and if it is available yet?

I suffer from sever migraines and was placed on 75 mg Topamax in February of 2007. Went up to 100 mg before a therapudic dose was achieved. However, I still had the tremmors, didn't know what they were and only found out this week that they may be "Essential Tremmors."

Topamax hasn't affected my tremmors one way or the other. This doesn't mean that it won't work for you. Give it a try and follow your Doctor's advice ;-)
