Did NOT help me..the only thing that gives me some relief is the combination of Propronol and Primidone...takes both of them to help...good luck

Hi
I'm 69 years old and have had ET all my life. It runs in my family. I've attended several ET siminars and seen many with worse shakes than mine. I only shake when using my hands. Makes eating a slight challenge. So I've changed to using a small spoon. Tried beta blockers but don't like the side effects. I was told, and I don't remember by whom, that a glass of wine will stop the shakes. I'm just a casual drinker, mainly when I'm at a resturant having dinner. I'll order some wine. A glass before dinner stops the shakes. ET is attributed to your genetics. So blame your ancestry for giving you this disorder. You will have to live with it. So try the wine and see if it helps. I was told that it calms that spot in your brain that causes the shakes. It does mine.
cheers

Wine does help...if you read thru the post you will see mine about my doctor telling to to go home..ahve a glass..if it helps it is PROBABLY ET..if not he woudl check for Parkinsons and other conditions. IT helped..still does after 20 some odd yrs, but I very seldom have a glass..only when going to banquet or soemthing that I do not want to be wearing my food..lol...Every yr is gets worse and my meds have been upped..the most recent yrs has started to effect my voice and my head shakes...grrrr I sound like Katheryn Hepburn and can no longer sing..which hurts my heart..BUT..as they say..take the lemons and make lemonade...I keep on going on...it helps to have these folks here to talk to..to read their posts...I also drink thru straws now ..it helps a lot!
Take care and good luck! i ahve to make a peach cobbler for super bowl!..HAve on my Broncos sweat shirt to bring them good luck NEXT year..haha

Maybe it is time to switch doctors...to be brushed off when it is obvious there is something wrong is not right! Thankfully I have a very considerate doctor!!
Hang in there!
