Fibro and Leg Weakness

Post a new topicby Wanderingjo on Wed Sep 02, 2009 2:22 pm

Hello,

I first went to an orthopedic and was diagnosed with a Ruptured L5 and a Herniated/unstable C5/C6. I went to a neurologist for a 2nd opinion since the orthopedic was wanting to do surgery. She told me that I didnt require surgery and that I actually had fibromyalgia and PLMD (diagnosed via sleep study). Her treatments werent working so I went to a Fibromyalgia clinic. The doctor is still pending blood tests results from an array of things but he also believes I have fibromyalgia.

Question is that, my understanding is that weakness and fibro is an all over kinda thing? and not really related to one part of the body? Is this correct?

My weakness is predominately in the legs and I often have leg spasms and cramps. My legs get pretty exhausted if I've been on them for any length of time just walking in the house. This could also be attributed to my disc problem. I'm just trying to get a feel for if my leg problems are due to fibromyalgia or from my disc since I have contradicting opinions. Or perhaps both. At this point I may just go ahead and have the disc replacement surgery to see if it is a disc problem because I cant stand this much longer.
