GBS is considered a medical emergency and most patients are admitted to the hospital soon after diagnosis. If the patient's breathing seems to be at risk, he or she is usually managed in an intensive care unit (ICU). Although GBS can improve spontaneously, there are a number of treatments that facilitate recovery.

The article says nothing about risks to GBS patients of immunizations for other diseases. Our neurologist has told my wife (GBS in late 2005) that she should under no condition ever get another flu shot or immunization for any other disease. I am curious as to what your response to this might be. We enjoy travel, are planning a trip to Costa Rica and are concerned about the risks for malaria immunization.
