I have still some residue of this Syndome. I first lost my feelings in my legs 9 yesrs ago. Most of the feelings from my waist down have gone away. Most of my upper part of my legs has improved. However from my ankles to my two feet, I still have burning and tingling and some loss of feeling in my feet. I can walk with an aid of a cane.I have to take Neurantin to deaden the tinkling and burning during the day. I guess I can say, I still can get around without a wheelchair. I do not have the extensive recovery time that you identified but I do have the numb feet from the angles down that you describe. I feel that this residual will probably remain with me. My onset of GBS was 10 months ago. It was initially very serious, total body paralysis, but I have recovered total control of everything except the feet. I can walk without aid but always with the affect of the bad feet. After much therapy I have been to lay the cane aside. It is just a feeling that I have that the feet will probably remain in this state. This is based on my experience with the recovery in other parts of the body. There just does not seem to be any improvement. I too take a medication for the foot discomfort. I guess there is some slight hope for improvement, also based on the fact that there was healing in the other parts.
