Guillain-Barre Syndrome

On July 28,2007, I woke up and got out of bed at 7:30am. As I started to walk to the bathroom my legs gave out and I fell to the floor. Shocked as I was I attempted to get up. Again I fell to the floor and there was no pain…the only thing was that I could not function from my lower extremities. ok i read your story i am a 29 yr old female from newcastle,indiana when i was just 15 yrs old i was diaganost with guillian barre syndrome.i was scared cause i knew somthing was wrong but my family doctor didnt believe anything was wrong with me there for i was put in a nut ward i was there three days my mother called up and told doctors she demend them do test i had the same systoms that another kid in my church had so they did all kinds of test x-rays,mri's,cts,spinal taps they did it all finally found out i had guillian barre i had to go through several treatmenes plasmaphresses,and other things i was scared i was just 15 and i didnt understand what was happening to my body.i was in the hospital the most of 93 and 94.i got better but gbs kept coming back on me it damaged my nerves and muscles.in 94 just a few weeks after my 16 th birthday i was taken to the er cause i had trouble breathing i was put in icu then the next morning placed on a vertalator i could breath on my own i couldnt move any part of my body i was scared.after there for 2 weeks i was sent to another hospital were i could have better care they took the vert off put in a trac that i had for 3 mths i was sent to a rehab to learn how to talk again.and walk.i have been through so much theres not enough time in the day to type but i have been through pure hell and i still suffer every day with gbs, 29 yrs old still in a hospital bed i live my life in fear every day.i hope and pray no one has to go through what i have.i would like to talk to others that suffer from guillian barre my email address is [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed] my name is angel
