Re: Still Living with Gillian Barre SyndromeHi my 32 year old daughter at the moment is in hospital and it seems she may have GBS. The doctors are still unsure as her syptoms are a little different from the norm. She will be having an MRI scan today and we hope this will tell us something. She has the numbness that started with the pins and needles in hands and feet which then gradually moved up the body. She now has the numbness up to her diapghram. Also (this is what is confusing the doctors) she has the numbness across her shoulders and across the top part of her back and also her bottom. GBS they say affects the peripheral nervous system but her central nervous system has also been affected. Can anyone relate to that? Also the pain she is feeling at night is horrendous and we are hoping she is soon at the peak of this but they say the peak happens after about 2-3 weeks from the start of the first symptom. She is at her 10th day. The pain is all down the back of her and only happens at night. The nursing staff are giving her morphein and panadeine. We are all so scared and would like to hear from someone that can relate to these symptoms and perhaps tell us that she will come out the other end when this nightmare has finished???
