The GBS Attack

I see the same story..I can not tell you actually how happy I am to hear others story about this rare condition. My mother is 56 years old, always a GO, Get it done type of person. About 3 weeks ago, she started complaining about pains in her leg, but again, she’s go-go! So she overlooked it, well as time has progressed, she started walking very clumsy and complaining of the pain worsening. Her regular doctors found nothing with tests, so referred her to a neurologist, well this doctor is ...Read the full article

My wife has come down with GBS..Hospitalized 10/1/09 expected to be released 11/24/09 with 3 to 4 months of P.T. & O.T. therapy. She came down with this virus 3 days after her regular flu shot.It was 10 days before the Drs. got the pain under control. She has bestarted P.T. & O.T. in the hospital. Improvemant started @3 weeks after onset of virus. It was horrorfying.. She also had the spinal pump test done and the first one proved neg. Two days later the 2nd. was done and proved positive for GBS.Evidently it takes time for the virus to show up in this test.I know it's hard, but she will get better. I would suggest she does not leave the hospital to early..In recovery it is imperative to not push your recovery to hard. You should try to have a balance on knowing when enough is enough. Pushing to hard will cause a relapse or her disease..
