What the heck is going on?I am 53 years old. I had terrible back pain and head ache for a week between Christmas New Year’s Eve, while we were in VA. Re: What the heck is going on?I can't get over how similar our stories are. Even the dates we got ill and were discharged from hospital are the same!!! I am also more or less fully recovered, although I still have numbness in my fingertips and my feet and around my waist area. I also lost a lot of weight, but have (unfortunately) put it all back on again - especially during our holiday recently!! I also can play with my grandchildren and pick them up, although they do tire me out much more than before. I am so grateful just to be normal again - I agree there is nothing worse than not being able to do things for yourself. My hands were badly affected, they felt like they were in boiling water and it took a long while to be able to use them again. My husband was also terrific, he also had to learn to do everything around the house, as he had never involved himself in such things before - but we managed fine. Thank God for all my blessings and I am glad to put this terrible time in my life behind me - although I will never forget it. If you want to read my story it is called " GBS - The Horror and The Hope" Best wishes for the future.
