could this be ALSI am a 49 year old female. Starting 5 1/2 mos. ago I began having vibrations in my arms and legs this has progressed to many new and different symptoms (muscle weakness, fasciculations, poor coordination, burning and tingling just a few) My Neurologist has run a nerve and muscle study and several other test, he has only diagnosed carpal tunnel and wants to possibly do surgery, though I have no pain. He also wants to wait 6 months to do any other test. This is affecting my work and life in general what is the best course?
Re: could this be ALSIt is difficult to know what the appropriate treatment for you is over the internet without knowing your detailed neurological exam findings. CTS can occur without pain in some cases. Your neurologist would know if other tests (such as MRI of the brain or spinal cord) is necessary, as this would be based on your history and clinical findings. You can always seek an opinion from a secondary source. Good luck.

Re: Re: could this be ALSThe Dr. has also run MRI test with contrast of my brain and upper and lower spine. They were all ok, no tumors or problems with my spinal column. The blood test also show no heavy metal problems, no lupus, no arthritis, no other "normal" problems. He has not done a spinal tap, and says if it is not a viral infection then it will be slow progresing which to me it does not seem to be. I have seen a occupational therapist and done the excerises and even micro current therapy for carpal tunnel but it has made no difference. He admits the surgery will not do anything for the weakness in my upper arms and shoulders and legs. Any other suggestions?
