flue shot

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Jan 30, 2002 4:47 pm

beginning of dec, i received flue shot. i began to have numing & tingling in my extremeties. limbs, feet, fingers etc. then on about jan 12/01 i got a shock like tremor down my neck & spine. the day following, i felt a stiffnes in my neck & shoulders. it lasted a couple of days. following that, i started getting pain in the left side of the back of my head. aprox. from the middle of my head. the pain travels down my neck and shoulder. staying on the left side. the pain seems to be incresing as each day goes by. I contact my gp. he referred me to a neurologist. the earliest appointment is April 9th. I don't know what to do. i am frightened by this pain because I don't know the cause. could it be the flue shot.
i would appreciate your response asap. i don't know what other steps I can take to help myself.
i am 48 yr. old female. there is also a genetic history of ms .

Hopefully you have seen your GP, as a careful neurological exam, testing your reflexes, strength, neck and back region should be done. Disorders suchas Guillaine-Barre have followed flud shots for example, although your symptoms may not be realted at all to the shot. Your Gp may decide to send you sooner to the neurologist if the situation is urgent, or to begin by ordering some presliminary diagnostic tests. Good luck.
