GBS

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Sep 19, 2001 10:49 pm

Doctor,
Eighteen years ago during my pregnancy with my second child my feet, legs, hands, and arms became numb and tingled all the time. It eventually went away and I thought no more about it. Eight years ago, I took my first flu shot. Several weeks after that, my hands, feet, etc. started feeling the same way they had 18 years ago. It rapidly got worse and I was diagnosed with GBS. I would like to know is it possible that I could have had GBS twice? Also, I have never completely recovered from the GBS. I still have numbness. I have recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Is it possible that the GBS could have triggered the Fibromyalgia?

It is possible to have GBS twice, but it is not clear that you had GBS years ago, given you seem to only have had the sensory symptoms of tingling. The etiology of fibromyalgia is not fully clear; I am not aware of any direct relationship to other disorders, but it is possible there is some connection.
