Guillain-Barre Syndrome

My husband has to start treatment for Guillian Barre Syndrome and the Doctor says he has to have Radiation treatments. Is this part of the treatments.

I have never heard of radiation treatments used in this setting.

He Said it has something to do with his blood and he has to go to Chapel Hill, N.C. in a few weeks. What is this about.

My husband said they planned to use some radiation to help cleanse his blood. Will radiation help or will it hurt him? I'm only looking for answers.

I wonder whether he misunderstood. A procedure known as plasmaphoresis "cleanses" the blood by filtering it through a special machine adn removing certain protein substances taht contain the antibodies involved in attacking the myelin covering on the nerves.
