I do have GBS and I'm scared.

Post a new topicby Kristal081670 on Wed Sep 26, 2007 7:12 pm

About 8 years ago I was diagnosed with chronic GBS Although I have been able to maintain pretty good quality of life with the help of leg braces, I have begun experiencing severe ankle/foot pain in my left foot. My family doc said possible plantar fusion may have to be performed and I am scheduled to see an ortho doc tomorrow. I'm worried. The surgery sounds painful and I wonder what my quality of life will be like afterwards. I feel like I'm fighting a never-ending battle. I'm only 37 years old and I have 2 semesters left to graduate from college. What will I do? Will I be able to finish school? I'm considered disabled and do receive SSI, but will I become permanently disabled? I'm beginning to think I should just quit working and going to school..........just stay home and enjoy what I have left.
