I had GBS in 2001, but I think I have residuals

Post a new topicby snydernm69 on Thu Oct 29, 2009 11:42 am

Hello,

I'm 40 yrs old, I had GBS in May of 2001, it paralized me completly from head to toe, I even had spasms in my back and facial paralysis, thank God I recovered rather quickly, but I've noticed since last year I have problems with me eyesight on my right eye. Could this be a residual of GBS? I don't know if I should go to an eye doctor or a neurologist.

I started my GBS with blurriness in my right eye. When I was discharged from hospital I asked my Neurologist how long I should wait before consulting an Opthalmologist. He said about a month, but I have left it now for several months 1. because I am waiting for the New Year for new benefits from the Medical Scheme and 2. Because I feel that my symptoms are constantly fluctuating still - some bad days and then some good, so I don't want to go before my body has fully recovered. But my episode was fairly recent ( Jan 2009 - you can read my story "GBS The Horror and the Hope") yours was a long time ago so I would go now to an eye specialist and mention the GBS to him.
