Is GBS heriditary?Hi,
2 years back,my son (now 28 years) got GBS and he was completly collapsed and was in the ventilator for 41 days. later after doing physiotherapy, he is perfectly allright now except slight freezing sensation on heels. I would like to know, is there any chance of getting this disease again ? Will he be able to maintain a happy family life? i would like to know whether it will be continued in the next generation?
Re: Is GBS heriditary?I am very happy to hear that your son has made a full recovery, as my Dad is currently suffering with the syndrome. I cannot tell you accuratly whether the syndrome can occur again, but I do know that it is not herditary. I think that it is rare for it to happen again, but to be honest I am not sure!
Hope this helped!
Re: Is GBS heriditary?I am glad to hear you son has improved. I contracted GBS in December of 08, and I have also recovered almost completely. I still have a little numbness in my fingertips and toes but I can handle that compared to how bad I was. There is about a 3% chance of it coming back. GBS is not contagious or hereditary.
