HELP PLEASE!!!!!!I have suffered from headaches (tension mostly but migraines as well) since I was 12 years old. Through the years they have gone up and down in intensity and frequency (I am now 35).
I have seen 5 neurologists over the years - I have a clean MRI CT scan, EEG, EKG & blood work looks like that of a healthy woman. BUT, I am in constant pain!!! The neurologist I am seeing now in in Indy - he is trying me on Nemenda (an alzheimers medication) though we are 5 weeks in and I still have a continual headache (daily range from 3 - 6 on a 0-10 scale) and am having breakthrough migraines He has given me Migranal for the breakthroughs but they do NOTHING! This last thursday I went to the ER - was in major pain - and they gave me benedryl & dialotid (I'm sure I spelt that incorrectly) and it worked wonderfully. BUT, now my neurologist says that if I am going to continue to use narcotics/opiates (I don't have a history of using them for the headaches) he will not be able to continue to treat me. I don't know what I could have done differently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried EVERYTHING - imitrex, frova, relpax, topomax, flexeril, skelaxin, amitryptilyn .... and at least five dozen other things, including physical therapy I think my hormones have something to due with it - but have been on the pill before and that did not help. PA in recent ER visit suggested a hysterectomy might solve the problem. I need input .... what do you think????? Is there anything I can try that I haven't???????
