I have been under alot of stress lately and my face began to have spasms on the right side of my face (the left side to someone facing you). thinking that it was the beginning of a droopy face or Bells Palsy (someone in my ex-family has had this before) but this person never mentioned spasms.I began to keep a blanket on that side of my face to keep it warm and the spasms would stop. Hi, Phyllis,

I'm glad your facial spasms stopped.

A couple things to note: First, spasms associated w/ Bell's palsy normally come AFTER the paralysis, not before. Second, HFS is its own condition, normally caused by pressure on the facial nerve near the brainstem, where the nerve exits the brain (called the root exit zone, REZ). BP is inflammation of the facial nerve closer to where it exits the skull. HFS is permanent and usually progressive, although a few people do have remissions from time to time.

I hope that, whatever caused your spasms, it's NOT true HFS and that you will have no more problems.
