Hemifacial Spasm

I was just diagnosed with this and am still learning about it. I, too wish there were more options for treatment. I am just starting on the medication for treatment to see if I can tolerate it. The thought of continually getting botox injections really scares me, as I have a lot of allergies and asthma I am worried I will have a reaction to the injections. If anyone else can enlighten me further, I would appreciate any knowledge I can gain.

Hi, PJ,

Yes, HFS is a real downer. I hope the meds help, but, alas, they often do not.

Treatment choices are pretty much limited to Botox or surgery. Some folks will do anything to avoid surgery, seeing it as last resort only; others will do anything for the chance to have the spasms gone permanently.
