MY STORYI am a 61 year old female who has had a right hemi facial spasm for around 25 years which started around age 35 or so. It began with an eyelid twitch and has consistently progressed. It now affects the entire right side of my face. It is becoming more and more bothersome since people think I am winking at them. I notice people with whom I am talking staring at my eye. I have found easier most times to just tell them what is going on. Of course, stress causes it to be worse.

Re: MY STORYI'm also a 61 year old female with HMS. It started about 4 years ago and affects the left side of my face. I also have a herniated cervical disc---#6, I think. Maybe there is some kind of connection.
However, I tend to think that the repeated assault on the left side of my head might have more to do with it. I've had sound blasts to the left ear delivered via a headset that I wore for 21 years while working for Delta Air Lines. I also had a very bad abcessed tooth on the upper left side of my mouth, and I've had many sinus infections due to colds and allergies over the years. I have noticed that my left side facial sinuses are much more sensitive to irritation. I had a brain MRI last month and will find out the results Jan 28. I'm presently considering the surgery since I can't tolerate the Botox or anticonvulsant medications. I've tried it all.
