Hello
I found out about Hunningtons disease when my grandmother was put into the nursing home when I was 9. I then heard about it again when I was in High School. Then in college I found out that I was at risk.
My father took me to a genetic doctor and they let me know I could not find out until my mother knew for herself. WOW…..I was understanding but I really wanted to know. I waited because my mom didn’t want to know. She started to show signs after about 5 years of her being out...Read the full article

KellyLynne,
I just want to tell you that you are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story. It's amazing how much it helps to hear someone else's situation. I'm meeting with a neuropsychologist and genetic counselor in a couple of weeks and let me tell you, I have thought about cancelling those appointments more than once. I've made the decision to go through with it not just for me,but for my son. I'm glad that you have a husband that is a source of support for you. My husband has been a rock for me,but sometimes makes me feel like I'm overreacting. He's going along with me to the appointments so that he can hear from a professional that I am not nervous without reason. Huntington's is a horrible way to die and he needs to understand what he may be handling someday or what I might have to go through if more of my family members become ill. I have decided that no matter what the outcome, I will never give up. I will fight until the end. For myself,my family and for anyone that has to deal with this. You are in my thoughts and I will pray for you.
