dance and chorea

independent video/dance project about choreaform movements and contemporary dance:

I am a dance student at London Contemporary Dance School and currently on exchange to SUNY Purchase, NY. As my final indepentent project I am planing to make a dance video, or rather a movement video, proving how involuntary movemnts of mentaly disabeld people (as found with Wilson's diseas, Huntington's disease, or other diseases producing choreaform movements) can also be found and used in contemporary dance.

I would try and capture their movements, (either through analysing or through filming) and then juxtapose these pictures, with dancers on stage doing (or trying to do)the very same movenets. This (hopefully) film will be set in the context of research about how in history "madness" has influenced culture.
In order to prouduce this video, I am trying to contact people, who either live with these or similar disease and who would like to collaborate with me.
It is a rather outside/ physical approach, but knowing how movement effects the psyche, I would get a kind of understanding, when later trying to recreate the movements.

Perhaps you know any selfhelpgroups in the New York area? Are there any hospitals or homes specifiaclly for people with movement disorders? I have been searching the net quite extensivly, but I need to find real people in order to make this project happen.

Kind regards, Thank you,

They are not mentally disabled. their brain is lacking oxygen. Huntington's disease is just the younger parts of the brain needing more oxygen. It can be corrected if done so in the beginning.
