There are so many different places to start when it comes to getting help.

You need to find out some of her options, such as is she insured or should she be applying for assistance? (Medicare) Social Security Disability Benefits. (YOU CAN APPLY ONLINE.)

She also needs a good neurologist who will keep the family up to date on new treatments and discoveries for Huntingtons. You could also contact a support group or check with local hospitals for groups. A lot of times these groups share information that is helpful in the processes. It will take a little research and making phone calls.

Check different Websites for different types of information.

You may even need to consider a group home or nursing home as time goes on, for safety reasons, (if your mom is living alone.)

CHECK OUT THIS WEBSITE:

HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE SOCIETY OF AMERICA
(They have some of the up to date research on Huntington's)

Call: Health and Human Resources-Government Pages

Hopefully some of this will help.

My Mom has HD and was diagnoised about five years ago and i have been asking that same question. In alot of states they have support/assistance/financial care for her. The links below can help you find out if care exists where you live

As far as the emotional pains and watching them get worse I am not sure there is help except a very supportive group of friends and family. I get very depressed at times; my mom has sevre dementia and pychosis. I am not a religous person but i tell you what, I pray to God everyday for the strength to deal with this disease.
