Wiggly Toes and Fingers

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Sep 18, 2001 12:20 pm

I cannot seem to keep my fingers and toes still. My toes are constantly flexing and if I force myself to keep them still, then I get this really tense feeling in my feet and legs until I finally give in and move them. I occasionally get shooting pains up my arms from my fingers. I am 46 years old and my health history has been rather uneventful. I have had arthritis for probably 30 years or so, and in 1998 I had a parotidectomy which required 33 radiation treatments, and 2 weeks after the surgery I was in a car accident in which I suffered a concussion. I have not consulted my family physician, because I really feel a little foolish. Should I have any cause for concern?

In some cases, sustained forceful movements as you describe may represent a form of dystonia, however, I think it would be a good idea to see a neurologist, describe any symptoms you are having in detail, and under a full exam, which may indicate whether any further diagnostic studies are needed.

While I am not a doctor. . . This sounds a little like "Restless Leg Syndrome" to me.

The shooting pains in your fingers and arms-I don't have a clue.
