Help to Help!!

Post a new topicby tdickeyt on Wed Dec 26, 2007 12:02 pm

Hi!
I am from Nepal, South East Asia. I am planning to help a 5 yr old, hydrocephalus patient who lives on the streets with his father who is jobless. I read quite a lot about the illness. And I am all ready to sponsor his surgery but the fact that many people (in their stories) had to redo their surgery, got me really worried because I will be here only till August, ’08. If things go worse after I leave i.e. if he has to redo the surgery then my help would be useless. So, please help me. Let me know more about the things that are to be expected after the surgery and of course, even the complications during the surgery. How risky is it? Will the surgery take the child’s life? Is it worth trying to help?
Those who have had faced or are going through this illness, please, help me. Reply my post or email me at [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]. In a nutshell, I want to know about the aftermath of the surgery (as in medication, check-ups, further surgery, etc.).

Thank you.
