Problems remembering WHEN

Post a new topicby frogger6 on Mon Jul 06, 2009 3:31 pm

Hello all,
I know there are plenty of posts here (and elsewhere online) about memory los, but I haven't been able to find one that matches me yet. ..So here I am.
I am a male in his early 30's. Ever since I can remember, I have had severe difficulties remembering WHEN things happened. This is NOT a new development for me.

It is troubling though because I know it isn't exactly normal.
I rely on family members to remember times for me or I have to write everything down.

Let me give you some examples so you know what I mean:
I can't remember my age. My 8 year old daughter knows better how old I am than I do.
I don't know how many years I've worked at my job.
I don't know how many years we lived in this house.
It's hard for me to remember what month it is...
I don't know when I met my wife... etc.
I can remember things happening very well, just not WHEN they happened.
I ate pizza for lunch recently, but I have no idea if it was yesterday, 2 days ago, 3 days ago...
I can remember whole conversations (and later use them against the person I spoke with LOL), but I really have no idea WHEN the conversation took place.

What is even more troubling is my 4 year old son SEEMS to have the same troubles as we'll do something fun and a few hours later he'll say "remember this? did we do that yesterday or today?"

People think I'm stupid when I can't remember when anything happened, but I think I'm a pretty smart guy. I will graduate from college later this year and have been on the dean's list several times.
I just wish I knew what caused this!
Thanks for reading.
