Prevention

Immunization with the vaccines listed below is the most effective way to prevent meningitis:

Haemophilus influenzae type b
MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
Neisseria meningitides
Pneumococcal (children aged 2 and younger)
Streptococcus pneumoniae
Varicella (chickenpox)
