he was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis 2 days ago. early this morning he had a seizure that lasted 27 minutes. They did a ct scan and found infection inside his head. At 2:00 today they did an MRI and found he had a stroke caused by his seizure He has not woken up and the doctors don’t expect him to for at least a week to 10 days. his stroke effected the part of the brain that all the wires come into. Anyone have any info on a prognosis for this.

Hello,
My daughter was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis in june of 07. she also had a seizure that lasted 18 minutes resulting in strokes. She has a lot of complications due to the meningitis. Every child is different and the brain is a wonderful thing, however it will be a long road. you need to stay strtong and on top of everything, keep track of every test, medicine, dosage, and diagnosis. Rylan has seizures, hearing loss, vision impairment, and a form of cerabal plasy all from the meningitis. SHe gets four different types of therapy a week and that will be increasing. I wish you all the best of luck. Always have hope. and never give up. If you need any other advice or have any other questions dont hesitate to ask.
