Two weeks ago I had to be driven from work to the emergency room at the local hospital. Migraine attack was severe and hit me like a ton of bricks. I’ve only had to go to the hospital twice in my life.
I’ve been suffering from migraine headaches since I was a senior in highschool. Each time the migraine gets worse. I thought the severity of the migraines was supposed to lessen with age. Mine have gotten worse. The only thing that seems to help is when I do go to the hospital and hav...Read the full article

i can relate. my headaches started 20 yrs ago. i've had many trips to the ER so they could sedate me. i've also tried many different medications to prevent these migrains from coming on, and many of them work for awhile, but they did work. my migrain have even changed over the years. the doctor recently told me they have evolved. now i have two kinds of migrain headaches. how do you like that? i take pills every day to prevent a migrain from happening, and i will gladly take it the rest of my life if i need to in order to be migrain free. i even have a medically perscibed regimen of medication i do at home, but if it does not work i will go to the ER. talk to your doctor. one thing is for sure, i rearly have a trip to the ER for a migrain.

I know what you are saying. I've gotten migraines for about the last 11 years. I am now 41 and they have increased and gotten worse in pain. I try not to go to the ER but sometimes it is just necessary for what you feel is survival on the day. ER is my last resort as our co-pay is $100. My doctor thought it was hormonal and put me on birth control which increased them to 2-3 a week and I am exhausted the day after one. When I'm home alone I keep the phone beside me if I need to call to have someone come get me. I take Maxalt which has decreased in its effectiveness over the years. If I take it to often my body thinks I need it and then triggers another migraine (per my doctor). Now on days I feel good, I try to get as much as possible done because the next day I may have a migraine that takes me out for a few days. With trying to work it is getting almost impossible to do a normal life. Sometimes I wonder if the stress of knowing I will have another one brings it on sooner.
