I'm not sure if this is classified as a migraineHi my name is Emily and I'm 17 years old. Starting October 1st I awoke with very painful "headache or migraine" if you will. I thought it would just go away, but unfortunately that's not the case. It's now December 9th, and in between those two dates I have not had one day not even a few hours where my head has not been in pain. Some times it's worse some times it's bearable, but it's constant. I have a CAT scheduled soon, and I've been to the doctor several times now. They've ruled out any sinus issues and it's been over two months. So I guess what I'm trying to ask here is, does anyone have maybe the slightest idea what could be going on in my head, to try and prepare myself for what may come, if anything does?
Re: I'm not sure if this is classified as a migraineHi Emily,
When it comes to headaches, the history is the most important element to the physician. By the description, we can tell which category this falls into and then treat accordingly. It would be helpful to make a list of the symptoms before going in. For example, the location of the headaches, the type of pain, associated features like nausea, light sensitivity, worsening with activity, sound sensitivity, spins, visual disturbances, relationship with periods and night time awakenings. We sometimes send for an MRI scan of the brain based upon the exam. Once the symptoms are collected, we can classify the type of headache. Treatment then centers around breaking the cycle of the headache and using a daily medication to prevent the headaches from returning. Hope this is helpful
