migraine or hypertension?

Post a new topicby veronchel on Thu Aug 20, 2009 6:24 am

I am 52 years old and have been suffering with migraine headaches ever since I was a teenager. The pain has become more excruciating in the last 2 months. I suffer from from menstrual migraines because it's usually before, during or after my menses. The last migraine prompted me to visit my doctor as I just couldn't tolerate the pain. The doctor took my pressure and said that my blood pressure was quite high 160/90. I was surprised. I was under the impression that the pain caused the pressure to shoot up but the doctor said otherwise. He told me that I am suffering from Hypertension Please advise me, is it the pain that caused the pressure to shoot up or was it because of the pressure I was having a terrible migraine which wasn't the normal pain I used to have. This time round I just couldn't open my eyes much, couldn't sleep well, felt giddy and nausea and loss of appetite. I would appreciate if someone has been through this and help me. Thanks
