Migraines, imitrex, and dissociation

Post a new topicby curiousincv on Tue Nov 03, 2009 9:07 pm

Yesterday I caught the onset of a migraine and immediately took Imitrex. I did not experience any pain, but I had several hours of dissociation.

Does anyone have information about the relationship between migraines and/or Imitrex and dissociation?

Dissociation as defined on Wikipedia: a partial or complete disruption of the normal integration of a person's conscious or psychological functioning.

My experience was that I could not maintain anything other than a fleeting focus on anything. With a lot of effort I was able to construct well-formed sentences, but found it almost impossible to link sentences together to construct an understandable paragraph.

Having now experienced dissociation in isolation, I recognize its presence in earlier migraines In prior instances, I attributed the diminished mental state as a response to the pain.
