Movements of the body while sleeping

Post a new topicby elchristianson on Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:38 pm

I don't know what might if anything be wrong with me or if anyone else might be experiencing the same thing. My wife is having her sleep interupted due to me somehow shaking the bed during the night. I am completely unaware of what I am doing during the night. This is not disturbing my sleep in any way and as I mentioned am unaware of anything. I mentioned recording me during the night but that doesn't seem to be an option with my wife. All information I've looked up regarding any sort of sleep disorder pertains to snoring or restless leg sindrom or blood preasure but nothing seems to pertain to what I'm looking for. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I'm new to this site and can't help but notice that no one responded yet. It's been months since you wrote, so you may not even be visiting this site anymore. Anyway, I know how your wife feels. My husband has been given the diagnosis "Chronic Limb Movement Disorder". He moves all night long and often disrupts my sleep as well. We've been married for 25 years and I believe he's always had it. It took a long while for him to be convinced that something was wrong with him and finally went to get a sleep study test done which revealed this disorder. The technician said he was running a marathon all night long. It's no wonder he was always complaining of being tired and never getting enough sleep. Sometimes, he'd sleep 10 or 12 hours and still feel the same way. He is currently on medication to help stop the movements during the night so he can reach REM sleep. It does make him feel less tired during the day but waking up is always a challenge. He's been on the meds about 3 years and I've noticed that it's losing it's potency for him. He probably should get an adjustment to his meds however, I think I will be taking him to a neurologist first to see what else can be done to help avoid the use of this medication. My sleep is so disjointed with him awakening me that I've suggested buying two single beds or finding one bed that I can't feel the movements from his side. Was thinking about the sleep number bed but am not yet sure.
