son has trouble walking like drunk. can't control legsHi, I have a 12 year old son and for the last few days he has begun walking funny like he was drunk. He said that he feels it coming on in his stomach.. like a tingling.. then when he walks he stumbles and can't control his legs. He has balance and is not dizzy. He can walk to the couch to sit but while walking he is wobbly. Legs are not jerky or moving wild... he just walks like he is drunk. He can't stand up straight during this time. years ago, he started blinking more and said he couldn't stop it.. after a while, a month or two, it stopped and hasn't been back. He walked funny (as he calls it) a few times in the past but it went away but now has come back again. he could be standing or sitting but it just hits. he doesn't know it until he starts trying to walk. He is falling everywhere during this time. It comes and goes. I need some help into what "area" or disorder to look under in the "movement disorders". I do not even know where to begin looking. I know there are many, many conditions or diseases.. but where to even begin... help..
Re: son has trouble walking like drunk. can't control legsThis sounds like it could be a kind of partial seizure considering that it comes in episodes. I recommend you see a neurologist and get an EEG to rule out seizures. A neurologist could give you better advice on what to do next.
