Tremors, jerks, slowed gait

Post a new topicby frykat on Thu Sep 20, 2007 3:39 pm

Hi! I'm new to the forum, so please bear with me. For the last 4-5 months I've been experiencing shaking hands, jerkiness in my hands as well as my body and legs and feet. I have severe myoclonus with my legs during the rubber hammer test. I should also mention that I failed my neurological exam: heel to toe, finger to nose, heel down the shin.
These things seem to worsen as the day goes on. I especially get very fatigued in the early afternoon. It is very difficult top write. I'm a 47 yo female.
Since I am bipolar as well, my neurologist wanted to make sure there was no drug toxicity. There were none. I also had an MRI which was normal. What can I expect next?

Your description sounds a bit like Parkinson's disease, not that I can tell over the internet, you might read up on it and see what you think, http://www.neurologychannel.com/parkinsonsdisease/index.shtml
Good luck

Thank you for responding, Urodoc. But wouldn't an MRI show if I had parkinsons? What other tests will be performed to determine parkinsons? What about MS, or essential tremor? Parkinsons sounds very scary!!
