wondering if I have MS?

Post a new topicby friz234 on Sat Feb 14, 2009 2:15 pm

Hello,
I am wondering if I have MS? I have several problems that haven't been diagnosed over the past 3-4 years. I have vertigo attacks that range from mild, where I just need to sit down for a couple of minutes, to severe, where I have accompanying nausea, sweats and have to lay down for a while and then feel drained for the rest of the day. I also have a reoccuring numbness that starts in my left side, mid torso, that follows out to my finger tips on my left hand. I have had, on one occassion, the right side of my face has gone numb for several minutes. I have chronic acid reflux, for the past 3 years and in the last year have developed difficulty swallowing foods and pills, I sometimes have to drink water at the same time to get food to go down and hve gagged on numerous occassions. After finishing urination, I seem to dribble for a few minutes that cannot be controlled. I have Psoriasis that is controlled by taking Methotrexate weekly, but, in the last few months I have developed severe joint pain in my fingers, right elbow knees and hips that could be consisdered Psoriatic arthritis, if not for the fact that my Psoriasis is controlled. I typically don't have problems with Psoriatic arthritis unless I'm having a severe Psoriasis flare. Tests I have had done? Ihad an MRI of my brain 6 months ago, but my primary was looking for signs of a stroke or TIA, results from reading of MRI were negative. I had a carotid doppler ultrasound that showed 50-69% blockage of the left interior carotid artey. Subsequent follow up with cardiologist revealed the blockage not to be substantial to cause symptoms. Went to ear nose & throat and had battery of tests including hearing and ENT done with negative results. I am now seeing a neurologist who is sending me for another MRI with contrast to include brain, cervical and thorasic spine region. All of the questions asked by neurologist seem to lean towards MS. I was questioned extensively about family history in regards to MS, Lupus and other autoimmune diseases. My wife is a registered nurse and seems to think the Dr. is looing for signs of MS as well. Does anyone have an opinion as to the relationship of my "undiagnosed" symptoms and MS?
Thank You for taking the time to read this and respond.
