Post a new topicby hopeforcure on Sat Aug 29, 2009 12:58 pm

Was wondering if anyone here is in the military with MG. Or if anyone was discharged from the military for MG What kind of discharge did you recieve, and how smoothly did the discharge go.

hope,
i am a vietnam era veteran with very high levels of agent orange toxins. i am 100% disabled though not from anything to do with the exposure related conditions. i have mg,prkinsn's,gerd, crpl tnl, rls, and was quadriplegic due to synovial cysts in cervical spine, all of which have some indication of association to agent orange exposure.
if you think you were exposed during your term of service to any toxins it wouldn't hurt to get tested.
i am not an expert and they change the rules frequently, but when i served if you were discharged for a medical condition it was a medical discharge which was general under honorable conditions. although if you can prove a link in your military history it should be fully honorable after serving for 180 days or more.
as i say i'm not an expert, but i hope this gives you some options to explore.
good luck with it. it's a long process and a lot of people give up. fight for what you are entitled to.

Hey Mate!

I am 66 and also Viet Nam era (4 years). MG just hit me last Dec. and I don't think it had anything to do with service just hit me one day out of the blue. Totally under control now. Everything I have read and been told points to mg being a young person and a older person disease. I suppose you fall into the former. Like the other post said, fight for what is due you as a vet. Right now vets are held in high regard. I believe they will do right by you...

hi larry,
i'm not in the medical field, but have done a lot of research, and have been dealing with mg for several yrs. if you google (myasthenia gravis + agent orange) you might be surprised. there is a great deal of information which points to a connection to different toxins, but especially to agent orange, agent white, agent blue etc.if you read the history of all of the accidents at various production facilities world-wide and the effects on the populated areas surrounding those sites it's pretty intense.
have you had an agent orange levels test? i'm not trying to push you in any direction, but if you decide to follow up it's a simple blood test at any va facility.
good luck with everything,
