Need help finding a Neurologist who specializes in MG in CO.My dad, a vietnam vet, was diagnosed with ALS a month ago. This is after undergoing test after test for over 18 months to determine why his speech is slurred, why he has trouble chewing and swallowing, etc. My mom recently came across research about the disease, Myasthenia Gravis which can mimic the same symptoms as ALS. My dad is only showing the speech, chewing and swallowing signs of ALS - his strength otherwise is still very strong. I found out yesterday that the VA will be inserting a feeding tube sometime this month, so it has become imperative that I find a second/third opinion.
Can anyone recommend a neurologist in Colorado who specializes or is familiar with Myasthenia Gravis disease? Thanks!
Re: Need help finding a Neurologist who specializes in MG in CO.WHile I am from CO, I have since moved to Boston. I don't know any neurologists, but I do no, I would stay away for University as that hospital is full of idiots!!! My grandma goes to Boulder Community and they seem competent, although I am not sure about MG. I believe EMG and MG antibodies can be some easily distinguishing factors. I hope and pray it is MG, as MG is pretty livable. Good luck.
