What does my sons EEG result mean?

Post a new topicby cdemert on Mon Nov 10, 2008 10:20 pm

Brief History: Reflux, food adversion, anemia speech delay. And now my son has some type of spells that have become more frequent. He will, for no apparent reason, flex all his muscles make fists, his eyes bulge and he "shivers" all over, afterwards catching his breath. Sometimes this is more intense than other times. Sometimes his head will shift to the left, but sometimes will remain centered, but his chin will drop to his chest. Sometimes he has 3-4 in a row each lasting only a few seconds. Sometimes he laughs afterwards. Ive tried to count and lately he has about 10 daily that I have been able to witness. He does attend daycare, and they happen there also. (I should mention that he is 2 1/2). The ped ordered an EEG and the results state:

IMPRESSION: This is a very slightly abnormal EEG secondary to nonspecific
excessiveness of the sharp wave activity seen at central electrodes. This
may suggest some lower threshold for partial seizures but this should be
interpreted cautiously and if patient continues with clinical events, long
term video EEG is recommended for better evaluation of these events.

(Sharp waves were seen at C3)

My appt with the neurologist isnt until Dec 23.....should I be concerned and push for an earlier appt? All I know is what the report states. Does what I describe sound like seizures? Is my child in danger? At what point do I go to the ER? Any advise as I am very scared.
