Neurofibromatosis

One of my friend's son (14 years old currently) was diagnosed multiple neurofibromatosis in the 1st to 4th cervical vertebra at A Hospital in January in 2004. Symptom then was intermittent headache. The procedure was given after the consultation, and the symptom disappeared and all vital signs were normal. However, further sickness was found in June in the same year (2004), with symptom of right arm and leg restricted motion. The symptom of arm was more evident. The doctors of A Hospital gave the second emergency procedure after studying the patient's M.R.I. and his condition carefully. The symptom improved after this procedure, and the patient left the hospital with neck collar. The patient took Chinese traditional medicines on the parents’ decision. In December 2004, restricted motion of right arm and leg recurred. To January 2005, the symptom turned more seriously. Clinical manifestations was incontinence, right arm fail to rise over head and can’t hold. The patient failed to walk independently.
Hopelessly the patient went to receive treatment in Shanghai B Hospital. In this hospital, Professor Jia diagnosed the patient with goose neck deformity. MRI imaging shows: the occipital subcutaneous soft tissue’s structure in a disorderly manner; adnexal bone in the 2 - 3 cervical vertebrae partial absenct; atlantoodontoid interval widened significantly; odontoid process of vertebra dentata kyphosis. The diagnosis based on these imaging results was: atlantoaxial post–procedure changes and atlantoaxial dislocation (the symptoms due to the two procedures in the A hospital). After skull traction treatment suggested by the doctor in B hospital for one month, the symptoms were greatly improved, the patient was discharged to go home to rest with a rigid dressing from head to waist. The plaster was removed after seven months, but all symptoms recurred and more serious.
This family has been seek treatment for their son in China for years, but after all the medical trials are failed, we search aboard to see is there has any orthopedic experts can assist and help this poor boy cured of his illness and bring back the happiness of this family, on behalf of the parents thousands of miles of away.
