passing the gene along......

Post a new topicby annastachiak on Wed Oct 08, 2008 6:56 pm

ok so my mother is the only one of 4 children that didn't have the "gene". I was not born with the gene. I have a 6 year old that wasn't born with the gene. If I decided to have a second child....what are the chances of passing the gene to that baby?????

If you were not born with the gene you will not pass it onto your children, as it does not skip generations, my father, myself and my eldest son have nf, if your mother hasm't got the gene you deffinatelly wont have, hope that helps dawnx

get genetic testing done because you may not have the clinical diagnasis for NF1 but you could carry the NF1gene like your 17 gene could be mutated
