How long can one go without sleep?

Post a new topicby livingwith on Mon Apr 07, 2008 1:34 pm

I went to my podiatrist 4 years ago and asked that he not think me crazy when I said that my toes were numb but they hurt so badly at night that I couldn’t sleep. He immediately looked at me and said, “You have neuropathy.” In the intervening time I have tried neurontin, lyrica, and cymbalta (thought I was loosing my mind) and am now on neurontin, 2100 mg per day. My podiatrist has referred me to a really great neurologist. Evidently, I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy ..Read the full article

karen I was diagnosed with a monoclonal gamopathy of unknown significance in August of 2007 this came about as a result of trying to find the cause of numbness in my lower legs and hands. Have you had a plasma phoresis test done ? Good luck and best of all God Bless I know what you are going thru.

Karen, your story was so helpful to me. I just wandered in here trying to find my neurologist who has recently moved. He has been seeing me for a seizure disorder, however, during the past 8 months I have had been wondering the exact same thing, "How long can one go without sleep?" I have pain in my hands and feet as well that keeps me up most of the night. My doctor has only mentioned nerve damage and prescribed B-12 shots. I haven't been able to see him now for a few months and I'm looking feverishly for a doctor. Thanks for your story. It made me feel as though I'm not as crazy as I've been feeling. Perhaps mine will do the same for you. God bless and sleep well tonight!
