AcupunctureIt has been at least two years since I had zero pain in my feet. On a 10 scale, my usual day was 2 or 3 with increasingly frequent spikes to 6 or 7 (lasting for hours at times). I'm talking wince-out-loud pain.
Last week I had 5 acupuncture treatments. The pain spikes have completely disappeared. At least 65% of the time my walking-around pain is less than 1. I've had periodic spells (of a couple of hours) with zero pain. I will watch the steady improvement this week and if needed, get a few more treatments. My gabapentin dosages have dropped from 12 tablets a day to six and I will gradually wean myself off of them. I don't know why I waited so long to try it. It made sense to me (nerve pain... hmm. Acupuncture somehow adjusts the body's flow....hmmm.) A simple process. Needles placed in certain spots and left there for about 15 minutes. Then about 10 minutes of specialized vigorous foot massage. Bingo. I am dancing again. Something to consider for your particular brand of neuopathic pain. R
Re: AcupunctureUpdate to my experiences.
In January I began seeing a Chinese doctor here in Oregon. I am doing weekly acupuncture treatments, plus doing foot baths in hot water with a special tea brewed from a package of Chinese herbs. After soaking for at least 30 minutes, I self-administer a vigorous foot massage. While my pain still spikes often, on average, the pain level is going down. I am in week 5 of a 10 week series. At the end of the series we will re-evaluate and probably go to maintenance (every 3 or 4 weeks). The pain relief is evident and certainly better than I was getting with neurontin alone. R
