Diabetic Neuropathy

Post a new topicby Janet A on Mon Jan 07, 2008 7:06 pm

Hi just found this site and am looking for advice from the real people who suffer from this apaling condition. I have been on Insulin now for about 4 years and my blood sugars are very good (average of 6.5) I was diagnosed with Femoral Nerve Neuropathy about 13 years ago - this has affected my life and my mobility is not too good but the pain controled well with Gabapentin - but where does this end I now have developed very strange cramps in my abdomen and midriff and wondered if anyone else out there has the same problem? Also when I have a hypo (not very often) I get very painful neuropathic pain around my stomach which is like a vice and can last for some time if I dont get my blood sugars up.
The problem is I am unable to get any real sense out of the Doctors and nobody will tell me where this ends or does it?

I am disabled and now need to walk with the aid of a zimmer (on wheels) with a seat on so that I can sit and rest, I have been diagnosed with a crumbling spine (but reading some of the quotes in the web site is this also neuropathy??

If you can offer anything at all I would be so please to hear from you.

Regards

Janet A
