neurostimulator

Post a new topicby Dianne on Sun Dec 02, 2007 10:39 am

Has anyone has success with neurostimulation for RSD? My doctor said that I should consider it but I don't know much about it.

Thanks for any and all info

On the 4th of this month(June) I had a stimulator implanted in my spine for my Neuropathy pain.
It was the best thing I could have done!! I have my life back!!
All my pain is in my feet and legs below the knees. The stimulator has reduced my leg pain by 100% and my savage foot pain by 60%!! People who see me now are amazed at the change in me. Pain is no longer in my face and i can walk like a normal person again.
I would advise you to have the trial to see if the stimulator works for you.
You trade one sensation(pain) for another sensation(tingling) I got the ANS brand....the best. The battery is about the size of a silver dollar and is implanted in my back. Wires (leads) are placed in the spine and tunneled under the skin to the battery pack. A hand held remote control is used to turn the stimulator on and off and control the amount of stimulation you want. Batteries last ten years and are recharged every week thru the skin. It takes me about 20 minutes to recharge. They will program the stimulator to cover the place whare the pain is.
Go to Spine-Health.com and read all the comments in the pain forums from people who have the stimulator. Just type SCS in the search box at the top of the page and it will take you to page after page of comments from everyone who has the implant including me. It helped me decide to go with the stimulator. I am so very happy i did. As soon as i fully recover I will be able to do all the things I could do before, pain free. I still take pain meds for the break thru foot pain but in a much lower dose than I was taking. It is not a cure but a pain treatment.
Good luck to you. I hope this information has helped you. Please keep us updated and let us know what you have decided eo do.
Hugsssssssss
