Question about shoesI have been to several different shoe stores and have been told 1) for neuropathy you should get soft flexible shoes or 2) get non flexiable shoes it's better if your feet don't have to bend.
I would like to know if any of you out there have found comfortable shoes (that are not too ugly) I have purchased both types and neither is comfortable enough to wear all day. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
Re: Question about shoesI am newly diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy.
I bought CROCKS and find them the best for my painful feet, they have special ones good for those with Diabetes, which I don;t have but they are very nice with low 'nobbies' which sure is better! I found the special shoe store thru my foot doctor. Good luck, Rose T.
Re: Question about shoesOh hun I know how you feel! I've considered it myself.
I have a lot lf lead in one of my feet, 75 pellets from years ago. Trying to find out if the lead in my system is my whole problem with Peripheral Neuropathy. I may even have to amputate... :( Write me... [moderator note: e-mail address has been removed] Rose Terry
Re: Question about shoesMy feet feel best when I am barefooted. Therefore, the shoes that feel best on my feet are shoes that are wide (roomy) and flexible. They feel best if the sole is thick and somewhat spongy, but roominess is the most important quality. When I walk, I feel like I'm walking on rocks (sometimes glass). The farther I walk the more my feet hurt. At some point it doesn't matter what I'm wearing, I need to get off my feet. I can manage a mile or so. Places like Disneyland, Disney World, etc. requires renting an electric scooter. I found a shoe I like at the Hush Puppy Outlet store. They are Jungle Mocs made by Merrell. They come in a wide width. I don't know if there is an equivalent shoe for women.
Re: Question about shoesBoy oh Boy....Do I understand your desperate need to find a confortable shoe for your poor painful feet. I have a pile of shoes here by my "comp" because i have to change a couple of times a day.
For a long time the most confortable shoe I had was a pair of Diabetic sports shoe.( I am not a diabetic) They have extra padding in them and are sturdy. They are also very expensive and I had to pay for them out of pocket(ouch!!) coz my insurance will only pay for them if I am a diabetic. Neuropathy is neuropathy no matter what caused it. The savage pain is still the same so why can't the insurance pay for a special shoe you are forced to wear?? Hummmmmmmmm Beyond me!! The diabetic shoes I bought have 2 thick inserts in them so they are "cushey" and I did not feel i was walking on sharp stones anymore!! Now they are not as confortable as they were perhaps I just need new inserts. Worth a try huh? Good luck in your search. Let us know if you find something that works for you. Patsy
