Shooting electrical like shocks from head to toes

Post a new topicby arrington06 on Fri May 09, 2008 11:23 pm

I was diagnosed with sensory neuropathy about 4 years ago and then a year later diabetic.. I went through carpal tunnel and tarsal tunnel surgeries and tendon release. It has been pretty good until recently. I was taking neurontin which worked for me pretty well not 100% but better with than without, well I had to quit taking it because of the weight gain and now it is getting worse and worse and it is literally driving me insane. i get these electrical shocks that go from my head to my toes and my left side is always numb and tingling, I have burning pains that shoot in both of my feet. I feel my left leg and arm are not as strong as they once were and walking stairs is very scary because I feel like my legs are going to give out and it is making me grouchy and moody and I don't know what to do about it, I just want to give up. I just want to go to the ER and just scream for help I feel like it is making me insane does anyone at all have any suggestions. HELP

Try Topamax it worked best for me and it makes you lose weight! It is also a seizure med. The pain isn't going away, better get a handle on it cause it will make you crazy. My doc also gives me 800 mg motrin and vicodin.
Good luck.

So sorry that you have neuropathy, join the Club.It sounds like you need a change of medication.Neurontin did not help me much,Cymbalta worked great , had too many side effects, like weight gain ( 50 lbs.) and excessive sweating. It was the sweating that really got to me.I had to use a RX roll-on on my face for the days I socialized...if I remembered ! It had to be applied the night before, ooooh ,did it burn.I'm on Lyrica and Pamelor now,it's not as good as Cymbalta,so the electrical jolts are back with the tired hurting burning feet.My jolts are only the feet,I can only imagine the head to toe pain. You need some better meds.I'm still trying to find the Perfect combination of drugs after 4 years.I just want my normal feet back. The best combo was Cymbalta & Lyrica together,at $300.00 plus a month, but it did cure 95% of pain.Have a good day/Jean
