The most painful night of my life!!

Post a new topicby racetra on Tue Aug 11, 2009 6:42 pm

Hello everybody, I am new to this forum but am glad it is here. I just had the most painful night ever. Both of my feet felt like acupuncture gone crazy. It was like burning nails were being shoved into my toes and feet. Very scary for my wife. I have had the "Invisable Sock" feeling for a couple of years and have felt the tingle I felt last night but no where as extreme as it was last night. Numbness and pain on the same spot at the same time is a little bit of a different thing!! I have a small amount of yellowing under the nails and thought is was the problem. I am a 49 year old Professional musician father of 5 and am a victim of this wonderfull economy. As you might guess, No Medical insurance. I can use any info as I am finding out that this can be potentially life threatening in a round about way. Right at this moment me feet are just hurting a lot...I can live with that.
Leading up to last night,
Sat: Played 2 big shows and had a few drinks....I am not a big drinker.
Sun: Layed around. Through out my back a little unloading gear.
Mon: Back hurt, took a 1 Vicodin.....Motrin wasn't workin. I don't much like Vicodin cause it makes me itch but helps with the pain. ( I have had a couple of back surguries in the last 14 years)
Mon Night: The pain and burning came on about midnight and has lasted till now. It has been much less for about 4 hours now. I think I am rambling now.
Any help or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Hi,
I'm sorry that you are having this horrible pain. I have had peripheral neuropathy in my feet for 3 years. The burn and the pain are undescribable; especially at night. I have not found anything that helps with the pain.
I also have RSD in both my legs and severe osteoarthritis in my hips, so I guess you can tell, I am in extreme pain all of the time. Had to leave my job of 30 years, as the pain and disability is so bad, I could not work any more.
I take percocet for the pain ( which does not help very much) and take either a xanax or elavil at night to "try" to help me sleep. After I sleep about 3 hours, I have to get up for awhile, because I am in so much pain.
I don't know what to tell you but do sympathize with your pain. Been there, done that and still living with it.
I hope you can find some kind of relief.

Thanks Darlene, I was just reading up a little on RSD and I am wondering if that is contributing. The most painful section for me is my little toe on my right foot. I broke that toe about 6 month ago. I think in the process of rubbing and scratching and dragging my foot on the ground the other night, it feels kinda broke again. Also, I have had many injuries through out my life (Was kind of a daredevil) and have some bolts in my back and a plate in my shoulder & have broken some bones. I have been told and I am taking B12, Omega3. I heard that helps. I also take Glucosemine. I don't know about that for helping. The search is on!!

Hi Tracy,
I don't know how much you know about RSD but, it is very hard to diagnose. It took ALONG time for mine to be diagnosed, therefore, any treatment that was done did not help me. I also did not have health insurance for two years, due to the loss of my job. Therefore, no one even wants to talk to you or touch you; I know you know all about that. It really is ashame. I have lost use of both of my legs; the muscle have atrophied to the point that I need a walker to "drag" myself around. I really hate this at 51 years old; I feel like I am about 80. Then, as I said about my hips being so bad, that of course, also affects my knees and the whole leg. You know 'the hip bone is connected to the......".
It does sound like you have neuropathy; which I would have never believed could be so painful.
I also take B 12 and B complex; I'm not sure that they help, but I take them each day anyway.
Again, I hope you can find some answers, but I know how difficult it is without insurance.
I wish you the best.

Ok so when I was younger and my grandma would say oh the weather is gonna this or that cuz this or that is hurting. I thought she was a crazy old lady lookin for attention. Well now I feel terribly guilty for thinking that. I have idopathic periphal neuropathy and I have deffinatly noticed the weather plays a major factor in the pain level and time of day also. Night is alaways the worse time for me cold fronts prove to be extremily painful and thunder storms unconfortable. So If it happens again check the weather see whats going on and you might just find the key to understanding your pain a little any how
