Agent Orange and Parkinson’s disease

Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed Jan 14, 2009 1:05 pm

There is compelling evidence that Parkinson’s disease is associated with exposure to the chemicals in Agent Orange. The Mayo Clinic found that herbicides were significantly associated with Parkinson’s disease with the most reported herbicide being 2,4-D (one of the herbicides in Agent Orange).
There are many more studies that support that finding. I am Alan O., a retired Army and Vietnam Veteran. I have PD. For the last 18 months I have devoted my life to researching the issue ...Read the full article

Alan, I am very interested in what you have found linking Parkinson's to Agent Orange. I have recently been contacted by my husband's XO in Vietnam. One of the men in his battalion has very recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's and his private physician is clueless to Vietnam and Agent Orange. I am urging him to file a a claim with the VA after he gets the Agent Orange physical and goes on the Registry but because Parkinson's is not presumptive, it will be a matter of having defining medical facts to give his doctor for him to understand the implications and, thus, be able to write a sound nexus letter for him.

Can you give me more information or tell me where to get it for them? Could I go directly to the Mayo Clinic site and request the information?

I am having to do the same thing with my husband. We are dealing with bladder cancer and numerous other health issues, all connected to Agent Orange.

Thank you for your service, Alan, and Welcome Home!!

Ruth

I have just been diagnosed with a parkinson's disease. I was a soldure after Viet nam but I decomisioned a lot of equipment from the era. being in maint and repair you scoop out a lot of gunk. I know some of the equipment was used for spraying orange goo. I would like to know if you know more regarding after exposure.
Thanks Joel
